Talk about viral. Great viral campaign of 2014.
“It’s going around” to say the least. In less than two weeks, the Ice Bucket Challenge has transcended sports and spread into politics and pop culture, and by the way it is raising millions of dollars. ALS donations have increased by best guesses of $6-$9 million dollars to date (8/17/14).
This viral phenomenon began with the University of Arizona women’s basketball coach, Niya Butts, who made the Cold Water Challenge popular earlier in hopes of raising awareness and money for breast cancer research. It then spread to the ALS organization.
